Merry-Ann's Diner (13/114)

So today we decided to try the local diner, Merry-Ann's. As far as we can tell they have a couple of locations throughout Illinois and there are two on campus.

Merry-Anne's has the usual selection of diner food including large breakfast platters, sandwiches, burgers and milkshakes! They have some specials on the walls including a hangover burger!  Here's the full menus:

Condiments at the table

Jun had never eaten an American breakfast, so he got the platter with steak, scrambled eggs, hash browns and pancakes ( two plates worth of food!). It was the first time that he wasn't able to finish every bite! Tiffany asked the waitress what she would recommend and got the patty melt. Yanfen decided to be adventurous and got the horseshoe sandwich.

Final Review

Environmental: 8/10

It has a very classical diner setting, and is extremely clean and shiny. It has a great homey atmosphere with customers ranging from locals to cops and to students! The waitress is pretty friendly and is always available which is a big plus in my book! This would be a perfect place to go after a late night of drinking, for a date, or just to meet up with friends!

Patty Melt -  Tiffany

Taste 7/10, Price 7/10, Fullness -10/10

This sandwich is pretty much a play on a hamburger but on a toasted rye bread. It's pretty flavorful and has a  lot of onions and cheese in the middle. I think its a very good combination and I'm glad that it was recommended to me! The patty itself is pretty thick which is what I like and juicy, and the cheese binds it pretty well so that the sandwich isn't falling apart. For my own personal preference the onions were overpowering and I found myself pulling a bit of them out!The fries are pretty good, well cooked and not to greasy. It also comes with some sliced pickles if you are into that sort of thing. However, most of the food was one toned so it made you crave something unfried such as apples or salad. Very good if you want comfort food though!

Horsehoe Sandwich - Yanfen

Taste 8/10, Price 7/10, Fullness 10/10
This dish was not what I was expecting at all! However, it was amazing! There were so much nachos and fries I couldn't see the meat or the toast until later.

The cheese was pretty much just nacho cheese. I wish it had some peppers or other seasoning in it but it was good never-the-less.

The meal was way to big for me. I couldn't finish it and felt a little weird from all the cheese. Definitely share this with a friend!
Jun's Review: "I think i'm going to be a regular!"
