Back to School with the Sweetcorn Festival!

Hello everyone! We apologize for not writing for a while! It is back to school season at U of I and we have been very busy with classes, moving, and research.

Last weekend we decided to take a break and check out the annual Sweetcorn Festival in downtown Urbana which also happened to be within walking distance from Tiffany's apartment.

The festival was so busy!! There were people everywhere! We are so short that we could barely see where we were going. Besides the sweetcorn, there were lots of different types of food including ice cream, BBQ, cookies, and a ton of others!

There was also a big band playing!
We walked around and grabbed some free stuff and Yanfen couldn't resist taking a picture with the alligator roaming the streets!
We bought some tickets and headed straight for the sweetcorn. The tickets were $1 each and the corn was one for one ticket. Such a great deal!

Tiffany didn't eat dinner beforehand so she got some BBQ from Southern BBQ and Comfort.
Yanfen had never eaten Shaved Ice before we decided to buy some of that for dessert!
Our favorite thing by far was the petting zoo! They had camels, goats, bunnies, and even a wallaby!

Overall, we had a great time!!

Final Review

Sweetcorn

Tiffany                                               Taste 9/10  Price 9/10

Very delicious, dripping with butter and extremely sweet! Only criticism is that the butter got all over my arm and the corn was tooooo small!

Taste 9/10  Price 10/10
The corn was sooooo good! It was really sweet and the kernals were juicy and popped when you bite into it. It was extremely messy with the layers and layers of butter but it was very good! I wish they had corn that didn't have butter on it since I prefer mine plain but I understand that it would make the process harder.

A+++ Definitely check it out!!

BBQ from Southern BBQ and Comforts  Taste  2/10 Price 3/10

Can't honestly say I was fan; the pulled pork had no flavor and actually tasted soggy and wet, and the bun was soggy as well. The price (5$) got you the meat in a bun...The food may have been bad since I got it when they were packing up.

Blueberry and Watermelon Shaved Ice
Tiffany Taste 5/10 Price 5/10

Loved the blueberry flavor but hated the watermelon. It tasted like really really fake bubblegum. It did come in a little baseball hat (Red Sox!) of your choice!

Yanfen- Taste 9/10  Price 6/10
I've never had shaved ice before but I really liked it! I didn't really see the point of eating ice but I get it now! The ice is shaved into very very small pieces so it was very airy and soft in your mouth. It is doused in a ton of syrup so it is very sweet. I loved the blueberry flavor but the watermelon didn't taste like watermelon at all.

Price Check

Tiffany: $10
Yanfen: $4

Overall:
Tiffany: $144.59
Yanfen: $151.86
