Weekday Special: Steak 'N Shake

Yanfen was helping Tiffany move today, and after a long morning of hauling and thrift store shopping we stopped by Steak 'n Shake! It's a chain restaurant in the midwest that sells mostly burgers and shakes.

It looks like a classic diner; there are black and red booths and also a counter you can sit at. There was a bunch of people there, especially families and the older generation. Today, we opted to sit at a booth so we could take pictures discreetly.

here's the seasonings on the table

What Tiffany's burger should look like!

We had a bunch of coupons, and decided to get a meal and milkshake each! Yanfen got a strawberry milkshake and a double steak burger. Tiffany got a dark chocolate milkshake and a jalapeno burger.

Our giant shakes!

Jalapeno burger, not exactly the same as the picture...

Final Review:

Environmental review: 8/10

As mentioned before, this place looks like an old fashioned dinner. When we entered, the place was half full, and we were seated within minutes. The place was pretty much spotless and there  was no bugs or anything. Our table had a full selection of condiments as well as mats. Our waitress was pretty nice and stopped by A LOT! It took Tiffany awhile to figure out what she wanted and the waitress never disappeared for long periods time. This would be a great place to take your family or for poor grad students!

Strawberry Milkshake and Double Steak Burger - Yanfen

Taste 6/10  Price 9/10  Fullness 9/10

Since my meal was only $5, I can't really complain. The burger was pretty good though not the best looking.

The fries were my favorite part! They are really thin which made it a bit frustrating to eat since they are so little. I loved the seasoning for them!

The milkshake was so big I couldn't finish it. Like all strawberry flavored things, it reminded me of strawberry cough syrup or strawberry milk.

Overall, not a bad meal for the price!

Dark Chocolate Milkshake and Jalapeno Burger - Tiffany

Taste: 7/10, Price 7/10, Fullness 11/10

This place sells a lot of the same stuff as meatheads as reviewed before! As I got a similar burger, I think a comparison between the two is pretty fair. Like Meatheads, they give you a couple of thin patties (instead of a giant patty) but this one wasn't dripping in oil, which is a plus in my book! You couldn't taste any of the salsa, and there was a bit of a bite from the jalapeno's. In terms of the bun, it wasn't anything special. The fries themselves are of a shoestring variety, there was also some seasoning that you could put on, but it was a bit salty too me. I think I preferred the meatheads one (if they eased up on the seasoning!) in terms of cut. The milkshake was huuugge and delicious! There were chocolate chips and a cherry on top. I couldn't finish it all and ended up taking home over half the shake.
